Burnt Cross / Anthrax split-7"

I have been asked to take a small part in the forthcoming split 7" release with two amazing bands. My favorites Burnt Cross and another amazing band, the classic anarcho band Anthrax from UK. It can't be better when it comes to this genre. Well, more info will come late, I am just so glad that I will be involved in this. It will be a bunch of labels as usual when it comes to Burnt Cross who release this.

top-3 this weekend

Well, this is my top-3 list for the weekend.

1. Autonomads - Back to the bark
I discovered this band today even though I downloaded the record No man's land for over a year ago. I sent them an email and hope that they will participate on the Schizo Philippines Compilation. I have loved Operation Ivy for a long time, but I consider Autonomads as a better band.


2. Northern Drinkin Cult - Drink up the cider EP
This aussie band participated on the Swedish Delerium Tremens compilation tape. Later on I had luck to get their CD with these 4 tracks and a bunch of live tracks in the spirit of Macc Lads. This is probably one of the best Oi/Punk band I've heard


3. Blaggers ITA - House of fascist scum
Blaggers ITA have released so many good tracks. This is one of the most classic. I really like antifa bands playing Oi! and Blaggers ITA is probably one of the best.

Yeah, one of my favorite band Burnt Cross are back with their 9th 7". 2 of  5 tracks are new and the 3 other has been recorded earlier in the past but was unreleased until now. Burnt Cross have a classic UK anarcho punk sound just like Conflict and Flux Of Pink Indians etc but in my opinion is Burnt Cross better than these bands. "We the people" is one of the 2 newly recorded and that is one of the best song on this 7". The best song is "Rise". Paul sounds so fucking angry and I love it when Maureen sings. She has a very interesting voice. This 7" is their first with a white cover and black print and it looks really good. What else can I say more than that they have succeeded again. And of course this is yet a multi label release, 11 labels stand behind this 7" Get in touch with Burnt Cross if you are into anarcho punk. You wont be disappointed.

This is one of  the best punk documentarys I’ve ever seen. It’s about the early anarcho punk scene in the UK. And it’s fun to see a british documentary that contains so much more than just the classic 77-bands. The many interviews with people from bands like Subhumans, Zounds, Rubella Ballet, Conflict and Crass are very informative. This is a documentary that portray the anarcho scene in generally and specific events in particularly, like the riots between punks and cops outside Brixton Academy when Conflict was going to play there.

It’s sad but true but many topics are still very current. And what people say about the punk in the early 80.s could be about today as well. This is a very interesting documentary, much because of the topics, it’s more than just all that crap about how sick Sid Vicious was as british punk documentarys use to be about. There is much more meaning in this documentary. The only thing I miss is that it could emerged what band they played when they play music. It is lot's of music and I guess you will find a couple of new bands.

This anarcho wave is far from the 77-wave when the punx just wanted to be rebels in the punk uniform and the bands just looking around for record deals insted of thinking  D.I.Y. This anarcho wave was about “freedom, peace and unity” and 100 % honest. 

Except all good interviews will you see a lot of rare live sequences. And the quality is perfect from the beginning to the end. This movie is fantastic and not a pointer that PC punx can use. It’s more a lot of sense and a big portion of truth. And it's also nice to see how people who were active in bands in the early 80.s have kept their ideals of what kind of society they wanna live in.

Atomic Pollution is back, free to download as always. And the lyrics, artwork, cover etc will be enclosed as well. I think this is the best Atomic Pollution has recorded. So I am glad that it 6 tracks this time insted of just 2. The sound is more angry now, and that is suitable to the lyrics.

The music is pretty much anarchopunk, better than many bands but not in the same class as Burnt Cross or Conflict. It would be fun to see how the sound should be if Atomic Pollution was a full band I can just imagine how "Free?" would sound. That's my favorite song on this release, Peaceful Protest (part.2) are good as well. I like when A.P make it angrier. Here's Burnt Cross again, and I guess you already know by now that they belongs to one of my favoritebands ever. Just like before is this CD co-released, this time by 10 labels, fucking impressive. This is a collection with the tracks from their previous seven inches. You will also get two covers (Mob violence by Apostles and They Kill Dogs by Existance) and demo tracks and one unreleased track. So this CD is for you who own all their 7" but don't own a gramophone (fucking collectors haha, throwing bricks in glass house). But this CD are also for you who haven't discover Burnt Cross yet. Uh ah, fuck it... this CD is for everyone who like anarchopunk in the veins of Conflict, Crass etc... I can just say that Burnt Cross is better than the old classic bands. Don't miss this band, get the CD now!

Review: Bersicker from UK

Bersicker is a pretty new band from UK. And they have a classic UK sound, I am thinking of bands like The Varukers and Chaos UK. The vocals are distinctive in the way that they are filled with echo, that sounds actually really good. There's 3 tracks on this CD, the first is just like an intro, but the other 2 tracks is hardcorepunk in the same high class as the best UK82 bands. It will be fun to see what Bersicker will release in the future. It wouldn't surprise me if they'll do a split 7" or an fullenght CD, because if they write more songs like these will they have material for a fullenght for sure.

It's already out the split 7" between veteran HC/Punk bands White Flag and Crise Total! Both were born in 1983 and both are a reference of the International Punk scene. The Americans White Flag who are LA natives have visited Europe quite a few times and have in their portfolio tenths of releases and have over the years crossed ways with such bands as Social Distortion, Germs, Bad Religion and the Melvins amongst many others,their shows always marked by their polemic posture and their thought provoking themes,3 tracks that show them at their best. As for the Portuguese Crise Total,a cult band from the Portuguese underground and pioneers of the Anarcho-Punk Movement in that country we have here their first record with their new line-up since 2008 with original members Manolo(vocals) and Rui Ramos(guitar) and the new recruits Rattus(bass) from Albert Fish and Johnny(drums) from Asfixia,Simbiose,2 tracks showing their anti-capitalistic/political stance as always.

Tadpole and Schizo is 2 of 10 labels who co-released this 4 tracks EP. I am proud to be one of them since Burnt Cross is my favorite band right now in all genres. Burnt Cross contains of 2 brothers (Paul and Rob) and I have made at least two interviews with them earlier, which you can read in Schizo Fanzine. Well, the brothers really know how to produce good anarcho punk in the same school as Conflict and Anthrax but better because of the fantastic anger the leadsinger Paul have in his voice. It's 4 tracks on this EP, one of them is Mob Violence by The Apostles, and I prefer this version before the original. If you, just like me can't get enough of Burnt Cross, order their new CD with tracks from their last 3 ep's, some unreleased stuff and some covers. And I have still copys left of this EP so if you wanna order from me, just send me an email. Burnt Cross really know how to deliver pissed anarcho punk, but sometime in the future would it be cool to hear them with real drums.
